Edinburgh Royal Botanic Garden

The Royal Botanic Garden, established in 1670, is one of the finest in the world where unusual and beautiful plants can be found and is home to over 6% of all known plants.


The Garden is over 28 hectares of beautifully landscaped grounds, featuring the world famous Rock Garden, 11 unique glasshouses including Britain's tallest Palm House, the Tranquil Chinese Hillside complete with wild water ravine and Queen Mother's Memorial Garden.


Situated only 1 mile north of the city centre.

Opening times

The Garden is open daily (except 25 December and 1 January).


Garden & Gateway opening hours :

November to January: 10am - 4pm

February & October: 10am - 5pm

March to September: 10am - 6pm


Glasshouses close:

November to January: 3.30pm (last admission 3pm)

February & October:  4.30pm (last admission 4pm)

March to September: 5.30pm (last admission 5pm)
